He is the eldest son of Australian-American media mogul Rupert Murdoch, and his second wife, Scottish journalist and author Anna Murdoch Mann. He was raised in a wealthy New York City neighbourhood where his father owned the ''New York Post''. He received his education at the exclusive Aspen Country Day School in Aspen, Colorado (U.S.), Trinity School in New York City as well as at the Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts (U.S.).
